Agency switch for highly-rated lobbyist who helped set up Insight Consulting Group.

Former Insight Consulting Group managing director James Tyrrell has been named as the new chair of APCO’s UK health care practice.

Tyrrell helped to establish ICG with John Lehal in 2006.

PAN revealed his plans to leave the firm in February in a weekly editor’s briefing. “Sources at ICG insist it is all amicable with Tyrrell deciding that having done 10 years it was a good time to try something new,” stated the memo.

Tyrrell was previously public affairs manager at the British Retail Consortium. He joins APCO Worldwide as director and chair of the firm’s UK health care practice.

James Acheson-Gray, managing director of APCO’s London office, said: “His nearly 15 years of experience as a leading health care consultant, and proven track record of effecting policy change in the industry, will be of great value to our clients as they face an increasingly complex and regulated environment.”

Tyrrell said: “I’m really looking forward to joining APCO’s dynamic team.

“Health care policy around the globe is evolving at a dramatic pace. Organisations wanting to be at the forefront of this evolution need the very best advice. APCO’s global health care practice sets it apart in the marketplace and I’m eager to use my expertise to assist the firm’s impressive client base.”
