New executive director at the Centre for Social Justice

The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has promoted its MD, Gavin Poole, to executive director.

The move follows the departure of Philippa Stroud (PAN, June) to become a special adviser to work and pensions secretary, Iain Duncan Smith, who founded the CSJ six years ago.
Mark Florman, previously one of the CSJ’s board of directors, has become the CSJ’s chairman.
Meanwhile, the CSJ’s policy director, Charlotte Pickles, is on long-term secondment to IDS’s department as an expert adviser.
Stroud, meanwhile, has been confirmed as chairman of the CSJ’s founding fellows and co-chair of its advisory council.
The CSJ’s personnel changes come ahead of the think-tank’s annual CSJ Awards, which will take place on 14 July at JP Morgan Asset Management.
The evening’s aim is to reward small, local charities that work with people in Britain’s poorest communities, and to promote their work.
Separately, the CSJ has said that it will be holding more than 20 events at the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat party conferences this year. The CSJ will also host several roundtable discussions on different topics.
