Cooper will join the environmental think-tank on 6 September, moving from the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), where she was head of its agriculture and land-management programme.
In her new role she replaces Thomas Lingard, who is returning to Unilever in the new role of global external affairs director after a two-year secondment to the think-tank (PAN, July).
At the IEEP Cooper has been campaigning for reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, arguing for a greater integration of environmental objectives. Green Alliance described her as having ‘detailed knowledge of EU institutions, political processes and the EU budget’.
Prior to joining IEEP Cooper worked at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London.
PAN reported two months ago that Green Alliance had hired Matthew Spencer as its new director. He joined from the Carbon Trust.
