Alain Flausch will take over from Hans Rat, who is to retire after 13 years at the helm of the association. The appointment will be effective by the year’s end.
Flausch has been UITP’s president since 2009 and is succeeded in that role by Ousmane Thiam. He has been CEO of STIB for 11 years and a member of UITP’s policy board since 2004.
UITP has 3,400 members from more than 90 countries and bills itself as the global advocate of public transport and ‘sustainable mobility’. Its director of comms and publications is long-serving Sylvie Cappaert-Blondelle.
