PlasticsEurope hires Engelmann as advocacy director

BRUSSELS: Plastics Europe has completed its search for a new advocacy director.

Dr Martin Engelmann started at PlasticsEurope – one of Brussels’ best-known trade associations – on 2 November, moving from the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI), where he was head of the office of the director-general for five years.
Engelmann – a trained lawyer – will relocate to Brussels from Germany and succeeds Jean-Pierre De Grève, who held the title deputy executive director and is retiring (PAN, Sep).
PlasticsEurope, which has 69 staff overall, recently promoted long-serving deputy head of comms Hanane Taidi to the pan-European role of head of comms (PAN, Sep).
Engelmann will report to executive director Dr Wilfried Haensel and will be in charge of deciding which – if any – public affairs agency PlasticsEurope works with. It currently works with FTI Consulting (formerly FD Blueprint).
PlasticsEurope next year will hold ‘PolyTalk’12’, a major industry summit in Wiesbaden, Germany, from 19-21 September.
