Public First hires TPA’s Alex Wild to boost campaign firepower
Wild is moving on after five years at the right-wing campaign group.
TaxPayers' Alliance research director Alex Wild has joined Public First in a boost for the recent-established agency’s campaigning firepower.
Wild becomes eighth full-time staffer at the agency set up by former Portland and Westbourne lobbyist James Frayne and ex-government education adviser Rachel Wolf.
It follows the appointments last year of Policy Exchange researcher Jonathan Dupont and Whitehall comms chief Gabriel Milland. The agency is still looking to recruit three additional members of staff across its campaign and public policy teams.
Public First does not disclose clients on the lobbying register as the agency says it does not do traditional lobbying. Rather it focuses on policy design, analysis, economic research, campaigns, media relations and strategy design to achieve public affairs goals.
Commenting on the new hire, Frayne said, "Alex is just our sort of consultant. He is able to translate deep policy research into hard hitting campaigns that change the way politicians and the media think about complex issues. Alex has a great reputation in the campaign world and we're extremely lucky to get him."
Wild said, "In my time at the TaxPayers' Alliance I've learned that campaigns that mobilise the public have the best chance of changing policy. Public First was founded on this belief and I'm really looking forward to joining their campaign team to help put this approach into practice."
