Field Consulting swoops for Westbourne strategy director Maurice Cousins
Chris Rumfitt called Cousins a ‘landmark hire’ for his firm.
Field Consulting has hired former Westbourne Communications director Maurice Cousins as boss Chris Rumfitt continues to grow the agency.
Cousins was most recently director of insight and strategy at Westbourne. During his time at Westbourne, he advised clients including Cuadrilla, Centrica Energy, Uber, Oxbotica, Statkraft, Shelter, Northern Rail and the Food and Drink Federation. He previously worked at Connect Communications and also as a parliamentary researcher for former Conservative and Ukip MP Douglas Carswell.
Westbourne was sold to Cicero Consulting in a surprise deal this summer. While the rest of the Westbourne team has now moved into Cicero’s office in the City of London, Cousins joins Field at their office in London Bridge.
Field was set up by Rumfitt, a former Edelman public affairs chief in 2014, and the hire of Cousins takes the team up to 13 consultants. Earlier this year, the agency brought in the top lobbyist at Ovo Energy, Rob Jeffery, oversee a new energy practice.
“This really is a landmark hire in the growth of Field,” said Rumfitt. “Maurice is a superb all-round consultant and will add tremendously to the strength of our senior team. I know that our clients will really benefit from his professionalism and insight-driven strategic counsel.”
Cousins said in a statement: “Field is one of the most impressive agencies around, and their reputation is growing through-out our industry. I could not be more pleased to be joining the team at a time when they are rapidly growing and working some of the most exciting clients in the business. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping the agency become even more successful over the coming years.”
