Field brings in Ovo public affairs chief for energy push
Rob Jeffery previously worked with Field boss Chris Rumfitt at Edelman.
Field Consulting has hired the top lobbyist at Ovo Energy, Rob Jeffery, oversee a new energy practice.
Jeffrey makes the move to Chris Rumfitt’s agency after approaching three years at Ovo, which is now the UK’s largest independent energy supplier.
He is currently government relations lead at the energy firm, which he joined from Edelman’s energy public affairs team in 2014.
“Rob is one of the leading energy public affairs consultants with experience driving real policy change for a range of businesses and working closely not only with Government, but also regulators and other statutory bodies,” said Rumfitt, who is a former managing director of public affairs at Edleman.
During Jeffrey’s time at OVO, he helped steer the business through the Competition and Markets Authority Energy Market Investigation and has long been championing the price cap which is now going through Parliament. At field, his first client is Velocys product 'Syngas', a jet fuel made from non-recyclable waste.
Jeffrey said: “I am thrilled to be joining Field at such a pivotal time for the energy industry. Decarbonisation, digitisation and decentralisation are turning the political consensus, traditional business models and the regulatory framework in the energy sector upside down. This presents unprecedented opportunities and threats to every single player in the industry so the need to engage with Government and regulators has never been more important.”
Field Consulting has already established sector specialisms in housing and transport. The agency was founded four years ago by Rumfitt and has now grown to a 12 strong team, with Labour adviser Jake Sumner the most recent senior appointment.
